Winter Wedding in Muskoka
”Chestnuts roasting on an open fire… “
My wonderful winter wedding couple sneak a kiss post-ceremony on their way back to their guests in a venue overlooking Lake Muskoka.
It might not be for everyone, but for some people, a winter wedding is exactly how they picture their ‘fairytale’ wedding. There are advantages and disadvantages to every season but a winter wedding in Muskoka usually looks a lot like the photo above – white snow everywhere, natural rock and wood surfaces, ice for miles, fireplaces… and even fireworks for this particular wedding! Such a peaceful spot to have your special day.
Isn't this beautiful and dramatic! What an amazing day! I did not take one bad photo - it was impossible!
I wanted to post these photos because last week I was in the area running some errands and decided to get my snow tires on. That night about two-feet of snow fell covering the ground and coating the trees. During the next day there were squalls all day bringing another two-feet or so of snow. It was gorgeous out! Once you got 15 minutes south on the highway heading back to the city there wasn’t any snow!
If I upload a picture from a trip to Muskoka, each time it is of the Muskoka Steamships (Segwun and Wenonah) at the Muskoka Wharf in Gravenhurst. I decided to drive down and take a photo of the ships in the snowsquall and this is all I got!
I was thinking about all of the couples who would be coming up from Toronto to get married that weekend and their reaction to four-feet of snow mid-November!
I would have been surprised but very happy.
This couple decided to bring the outdoors indoors with these aisle liners (pine cones and birch vases with pine accented florals). These arrangements doubled as centrepieces after the ceremony.
