We are sad to hear that a fabulous Muskoka waterfront wedding venue (and restaurant) has closed its doors recently! I started getting phone calls from friends, family, colleagues and clients who were wondering what is going on. Lots of couples who had booked with this venue are having to look for other venues now hence one of my blogs on the importance of purchasing wedding insurance.

I went up to check out the sign on the door posted early spring from their landlords stating the tenants are in arrears of over $273,000 and needed to have their things removed right away. It is difficult for any business to survive in an area where income is seasonal. I don’t know the circumstances of this business but I hope that the new tenants are as excited as I am to have something go in there, and soon! With this past weekend as  the official ‘start of cottage season’ in Muskoka, I am getting concerned it might be awhile as the same sign sit on the door.

If new owners take over I hope they continue to allow the upper level to be used for beautiful weddings (I’d really like them to change the carpet though, ha ha ha ). As it is right now, Regatta was the only neutral, banquet type space on the water to have an event other than the Museum, or the Steamships. I’m excited to see what happens. If Regatta re-emerges or a new place. In the meantime there are a lot of couples left in limbo who were supposed to get married there this year. I hope they have been contacted by now and are making other arrangements. I feel for them.
