A few snapshots of my first visit to Belly Ice Cream Company in Huntsville, ON! Muskoka's only HOMEMADE ice cream! She uses local ingredients to flavour her ice creams!

Have you heard? There is an ice cream company in Muskoka creating local gourmet ice cream called Belly Ice Cream Company that uses only ingredients from local producers like honey, berries, and even beer! She uses no preservatives and therefore cannot stock mass quantities like your typical ice cream supplier can!

One of my Muskoka Wedding clients met Shelley Westgarth (Chef/Proprietor) at the Farmer’s Market a couple of years ago and loved her products so much that when it came time to choose the dessert for their pre-wedding party she chose to order 3 pints each of her favourite flavours: buttered scotch whisky, basil and strawberry.

I so kindly offered to pick them up for her so I could justify fitting a trip to an ice cream place in my work week! I picked up a couple of sample cups with the flavours ‘wild honey’ and ‘strawberry’. SOOOO good! I served it to family and friends for Father’s Day dessert here with cake and it got good reviews! I think because there is less air (20%) it is heavier, richer perhaps than the average ice cream made of mostly air (80%). Still just the right amount.

I’m very happy to see someone create a great product by supporting local farms! Loving this new Muskoka ice cream. I hope you get to go and enjoy a pint. Her work is featured all over Toronto in major chains like McEwans, Pusateri’s etc. They are a little pricier than the competition but the quality is amazing and cannot be compared to others. Retailing for about $10 a pint, look for it in a store near you or make the trek to Huntsville, grab a cone and head across the street to the waterfront! Mmmm….
