Stress & Your DIY Wedding Details
‘Let’s DIY it…’ Famous last words. There are a lot of really amazing details that can come out of a DIY wedding project but be aware that the more responsibility you take on before the wedding you might be increasing your stress levels. Emotions already run high during the wedding planning process because you want everything to be perfect. DIY details are likely not delegated because ‘if you want it done right, you have to do it yourself!’ and no one seems to put in the effort quite like you do.
We recommend limiting yourself to a few DIY details or sourcing out a wedding professional who can help you achieve that look you’re going for be it a caterer who is able to supply mason jars with paper straws so you don’t have to source out the straws yourself, a stationer who is able to create cute little cards for your milk and cookie late night table, or a designer/decorator who can take your vision and source out the items you want so you don’t have to find 100 complete vintage settings in different patterns. Hiring a professional should help alleviate stress, instead of delegating to friends and family. This will reduce pressure on friends and family because the more relaxed you are, the less likely others will be ‘in trouble’ or affected by your stress.
Or, you can be the one on the night before the wedding using the glue gun to assemble the tiny ribbons on your wedding ceremony program fans… I think I’d rather be sleeping, dreaming of how wonderful my wedding will be.
