It’s Like Traffic On Your Wedding Day…
Hosting an successful event anywhere requires planning ahead and anticipating any potential problems you or your guests might face! These plans start from the moment you get engaged and are deciding what date you are going to tie the knot. There are lots of things to be mindful of such as the time of year you are marrying. Will wedding guests have to travel through a potential snow storm to get to you? Is it a holiday weekend and are guests coming in from other cities/towns? I’ve driven the 400 north/Hwy 11 on the Civic Holiday Weekend (in a Civic
) and it has taken me more than 5 hours for a 2 hour drive. Guests would MISS the Muskoka wedding if they weren’t planning ahead. Toronto weddings can present a lot of different nightmares as guests try and get to your wedding ceremony or wedding venue. There can be construction, marathons, impromptu protests, events like the Honda Indy that is on this weekend!
Our advice? Negotiate a fantastic group hotel rate and encourage guests to come in and stay a night before even if they are local. This will allow everyone to be calm and relaxed going into the wedding instead of stressed out over traffic related woes. Make a weekend of it! Organize some group activities like scavenger hunts or pub crawls… something to make the complete wedding experience, allowing you and your wedding guests to feel like they are having their own ‘destination wedding’ a little closer to home and with no fussy passports.
Dream.Plan.Enjoy.
