Last night in Gravenhurst the community had a showing of 'Dirty Dancing' and it wouldn't be an authentic experience if someone didn't 'carry a watermelon'.

Up in Muskoka to do a few site and vendor visits but took some time out tonight to watch one of my favourite movies as part of the ‘Cinema Under the Stars’ series here in Gravenhurst. We got rained out at the original location which was at Gull Lake Park but got the opportunity to move into the new Centennial Centre’s Terry Fox Room instead. It was pretty awesome seeing so many generations represented in the audience but I think I was the biggest fan

Speaking of Dirty Dancing, when it came time for me to write my Destination Wedding Certification I chose Mountain Lake Hotel, the place where they filmed most of the movie in Pembroke, Virginia. I know that a beautiful Caribbean beach wedding comes to mind when you think ‘destination wedding’ but I wanted to take it a different route and chose something that was really customized to the ‘couple’ that I was planning for. Obviously big fans of the movie here, my fictional couple’s back story included how their first date was at a showing of this movie back in 1987 and they wanted to do their vow renewal at a really romantic location and couldn’t think of a better place. My exam has been marked and I am now Destination Wedding Certified by The Wedding Planners Institute of Canada. Now who is going to be my REAL couple that I get to take to Mountain Lake Hotel?
